The European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) represents Europe in the fields of degenerative disease and sports medicine. ESSKA’s aim is to improve its patients’ quality-of-life, by improving the quality of their orthopaedic treatment.
The society achieves this by:
- Bringing together the practitioners: orthopaedic doctors, the surgeons and their various societies;
- Fostering research and education, and the exchange of clinical and scientific information;
- Organising congresses, speciality meetings, courses and fellowship programmes;
- Publishing its journals, books and newsletter to keep its members at the forefront of developments.
With more than 9500 professionals in the ESSKA community from more than 100 countries, the society has four specialised sections: Ankle and Foot Associates (AFAS), European Knee Associates (EKA), European Shoulder Associates (ESA), and European Sports Medicine Associates (ESMA). The society also has six scientific committees and four working groups, 44 affiliated national societies, 111 accredited teachers and 40 accredited teaching centres.
